Biscuit recipe is…the same one that is all over the internet. If you google ‘biscuit recipe’ it’s the first dozen searches (hint: they’re all the same recipe).
A note about the barbecue: at the grocery store we decided to buy pork, because it was $1.50 a pound, even though there were only 7 pounds of it. We had a few days earlier ran across this recipe for slow cooker balsamic honey coffee barbecue pulled pork and didn’t resist because well, the name, it sounds awesome, right?
There were a few problems though—we only had 1 cup balsamic vinegar and only one more cup of white vinegar (recipe called for three). It might be better with three cups of balsamic vinegar, like called for, but it was too vinegary as is. We added about 1/2 cup brown sugar as is, and would prefer a sweeter (or spicier!) barbecue. Oh well! it was still pretty great.

B made the cumin yogurt sauce and cole slaw (cook’s illustrated, his favorite). We make a lot of cole slaw, it makes a nice contrast to bready-meaty textures. And tea and candles, of course.

with special guest!
